Located on the Kakuma-gawa River of Shinano-gawa River system in Saku area of Nagano prefecture, Japan is hereby included in the ICID Register of World Heritage Irrigation Structures as an outstanding example of ingenuous surveying, engineering and innovative construction techniques to provide irrigation facilities in the region resulting in improved people’s life, stabilization of agricultural production, doubling of income in the early 17th century.
